Ludhiana is fast turning into a concrete jungle. The city is bursting at its seams. Buildings are gobbling up the green cover. Overall not a very eco-friendly scene.
In such a scenario, the city residents have to adopt a pro-active approach. They should take the initiative of planting trees. With the objective of planting trees and increasing greenery in the localities, mohalla-level green brigades can be formed.
These mohalla committees can look at the micro needs of the area and accordingly decide about the kind of trees and saplings best suited for the locality. Each house, even if it does not have space for growing trees, can have potted plants at least to add a dash of 'green' to the place. Vacant plots, instead of becoming a receptacle for garbage and waste, can be transformed into green spots, by planting saplings and trees. The bottom line is creating a mindset that beautifully and holistically integrates 'greenery' into the modern lifestyle.
