Residents run, take oath to stay united

National Unity Day was celebrated by the district administration here today.
‘Run for Unity’ was organised in the morning from Guru Nanak Stadium and more than 1,500 residents participated. The participants went from Fountain Chowk, Ghumar Mandi, Bhai Bala Chowk, Bharat Nagar Chowk and Durga Mata Mandir, and the race concluded at the stadium.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said the countrymen should make efforts to maintain unity. Five participants selected by draw-of-lots were given five bicycles sponsored by Avon Cycles.
Later, Agrawal administered the oath for unity during a district-level function at Bachat Bhawan.
Told to work for the welfare of country, state and society
Khanna: A ‘Run for Unity’ was also organised by the Khanna police here today.
Khanna SSP NS Mahal and SDM Sandeep Singh participated in the run. A number of students from different schools, police personnel and members of some social organisations took part in the race.
The race started from the Khanna SSP Office and passed through Amloh road, main bazaar and ended up at Lalheri Chowk.
Before the race began, an oath was administrated to the participants by the Khanna SSP. He appealed to all to work for the welfare of country, state and society.
Khanna SP(H) Balwinder Singh Bhikhi, SP(I) RPS Sandhu were present.
