Citing an audit report prepared by the Punjab Cooperative Societies regarding inadequate fat content and SNF (solid not fat) in the milk supplied by the Verka Milk Plant, Ludhiana, Lok Insaaf Party MLA Simarjit Singh Bains on Saturday said a scam worth Rs2.34 crore was unearthed at the milk plant, but the government had failed to take any action.

Bains demanded action against a senior IAS officer, who, he alleged that the government was shielding in the case and also alleged that a Vigilance inquiry being impeded.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, Bains said he had been collecting and getting samples from various Verka outlets across the state tested with the help of his associates. Bains said instead of acting against the persons who were selling low-fat milk to the people, the government was targeting him and an FIR was lodged against him.
