Rupinder, Simranjit, Lakshay, Sehaj set up title clash

Rupinder Kaur and Simranjit Kaur in the U-17 girl’s section while Lakshay Sharma and Sehaj Bhardwaj in the U-17 boy’s section recorded wins to set up the title clash on the penultimate day of the Junior and Senior Ludhiana District Badminton Tournament being organised at Lodhi Club, BRS Nagar, here today.

In the girl’s semifinals, Rupinder Kaur beat Prerna Dawar 21-15, 21-14 to enter the final while Simranjit Kaur had to toil hard to edge out her spirited opponent Siya Sharma, whom she pipped 21-14, 25-23 to assure herself a place in the summit clash.

In the semifinals (boys U-17), Lakshay Sharma survived a scare against Agrim Kapila before scrambling past 21-17, 21-20 and Sehaj Bhardwaj faced a stiff challenge from Arnam Jain, whom he defeated 21-14, 21-19 to settle for the final.
