Ludhiana: Admissions to SCD Government College will start on June 1. Starting this year, students will apply online for admissions to 11 postgraduate courses, namely MA (Hindi, English and Punjabi), MA (economics and geography), MSc (mathematics), MSc (information technology), MCom (business innovations), MCom (general), MSc (physics) and MSc (chemistry). Courses available in undergraduate category are BCom, BA, BSc (medical and non-medical) and BCA. Students can register online on the website of the college www.scdgovtcollege.ac.in. The website will remain open for online registration till June 25. A tentative merit list will be released on July 1 and final merit list on July 4. The principal of the college, Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu, said students should read the prospectus, which was available for free on the website of the college, before applying for admissions. He said admissions would be done strictly on the basis of merit, except for MCom (business innovations) and MSc (chemistry and physics), for which admissions would be based on joint merit of CET-PG exam conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. The principal said the whole process of applying for admissions and deposition of fee would be online and students were not required to visit the college. An SMS would be sent to shortlisted students for admissions and the verification of their documents, he said. A help desk has been established at the computer lab of the college which would be operational from June 1, he said. The staff counsels would be available all working days from 9 am to 2 pm, the principal said.
Counselling in architecture course
IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, will conduct online centralised counseling for admissions to BArch programme from May 31. The process of seat allotment process will be done based on the merit list prepared on the basis of NATA score and marks obtained in qualifying exam marks in the ratio of 50:50. The vacant seats, if any, will be filled on the basis of JEE Main Paper 2 score or on the basis of aptitude test in architecture conducted by the university. TNS
