Ludhiana, August 20
Seerat Kaur Pannu and Sarvesh Maria tamed their opponents to emerge champions in the boys and girls (open) category in the inaugural edition of the Ludhiana District Lawn Tennis Tournament that concluded at the courts outside Multipurpose Indoor Hall opposite Guru Nanak Stadium here today.
In the girls’ section (open), Prabhjot Kaur and Arundhati Dogra secured the second, third positions, respectively, while in boys’ section in the same category, Ganga Singh and Sidharath finished at the second and third place, respectively.
Pratishtha Saini proved her mettle to win the title in the girls’ (U-14) section, followed by Seerat Kaur Pannu and Kanika Malhotra, who secured the runners-up and third position, respectively.
In boys’ U-16 section, Sidharth came out victorious to clinch the title. Chetanbeer finished at the second place, while Aditya Goyal had to be content with the third position.
Madhav Sharma romped home winner in the boys’ U-12 group, while Hitesh Kumar secured the second position. Anhad Singh Oberoi finished at the third place.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA distributed the prizes to the winners. He appreciated the Ludhiana Lawn Tennis Association members to organise this competition, in which over 100 participants battled it out for top honours. He expressed hope that more players would turn out in the next edition of the tournament.
The office-bearers of the organising association led by its president Pardeep Sharma along with parents of the players were present at the prize distribution function.
