Aykai Hospital and prostate and urinary problem support society (PUPS) organised a seminar on prostate and urinary problem for senior citizens today.

Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh, director, Aykai Hospital was the resource person.

Dr Aulakh said one million people get prostate cancer every year and everyone was likely to suffer from urinary problem once. Fifty per cent of men after 50 years develop enlargement of prostate which requires thorough check up to rule out cancer and may be treated with medicine, endoscopy (TURP) or laser .

He said each kidney stone’s composition and location in human body is different. Sometimes patient with kidney stone doesn’t feel pain or irritation, he said.

Stones do not let fluids to pass through and this leads to kidney enlargement which further damages the kidney.

If detected early, prostate cancer can be cured completely

  • Interruption in urine

  • Discomfort, pain or burning when urinating
