Ludhiana: The training and placement cell, Gujrawala Guru Nanak Institute of Vocational Studies (GGNIVS), oraganised a seminar on ‘Principles of resume writing’ by Parwinder Singh, head of Department of Managament. He made students understand the difference among resume, Curriculum Vitae (CV) and biodata. He elucidated upon the importance of writing an organised resume.
PGDMC Semester-II results
Students of the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, have brought laurels to the college by achieving excellent results in PGDMC Semester-II examinations conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Komal Beri stood first in the college and ninth in the university by securing 65.44 per cent while Ashima Vohra stood second in college with 63 per cent. Principal Manjit Kaur Ghuman congratulated the students for their outstanding achievement.
Students take part in elocution
The Postgraduate Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, organised an elocution contest. Students of BCom and MCom presented their views on ‘Possible impact of abolishment of Article 370 on Indian economy’, ‘Study in India: A programme to reduce immigration rate of India’, ‘Possibility of achieving target of five trillion economy’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence beneficial or harmful’. The contest was judged on the parameters of oratory skills, facial expressions and content.
Orientation programme
The counselling cell, in collaboration with department of computer science, of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, organised an orientation programme for the second year students of all streams under the triadic development programme of the college with the aim to inculcate in them a sense of empathy. The capacity building programme introduced the concept of life skills and motivated them to inculcate positive habits so as to prepare them to face various challenges of life. The resource person, Prof Mandeep Singh from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, elaborated on traits that could be incorporated in our daily habits to achieve professional excellence.
GNNC welcomes MAKA trophy
Guru Nanak National College (GNNC), Doraha, welcomed the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad trophy which Panjab University, Chandigarh, bagged after 14 years. Principal Narinder Singh Sidhu welcomed Parminder Singh Ahluwalia, director of sports, PU, and said it was a real proud moment not only for the university but for all the college affiliated to it.
Kamla Lohtia students bring laurels
Students of Kamla Lohtia SD College made their mark in the field of co-curricular activities by winning the Celebrity Performer trophyat a fashion show contest, Mr, Miss and Mrs India 2019, organised by Imperial Models Organisation. The theme of the contest was ‘Hum Sab Ek Hain’. Principal Mukesh Kumar Mahajan congratulated the students and motivated them to hone their skills.

Department of social sciences of the Government College for Girls organised an installation ceremony of political science, history and public administration departments. The movie, Uri: The Surgical Strike, was screened on the occasion. Principal Manju Sahni congratuated the appointed members.
MCom Semester-IV results
Declaration of MCom (Business Economics) Semester-IV results by Panjab University, Chandigarh, was a matter of immense pride for Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town. Anureet Kaur stood first in the college and third in the university by securing 73.14 per cent. Bharti Sharma stood second in the college and fourth in the university with 72.85 per cent. Satinder Kaur bagged third position in the college and sixth in the university with 72.42 per cent. Shaweta and Arshdeep Kaur secured seventh and ninth position in the university by securing 71.28 per cent and 70.96 per cent, respectively.
Seminar on corporate expectations
A seminar on corporate expectations was organised by the postgraduate department of commerce and management of the Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, conducted by Prashant Somani, alumnus of IIM Indore and a corporate trainer. He discussed about corporate expectations from graduates and how they could acquire those skills. He highlighted the areas of employability, competency and career opportunities in the field of finance, marketing and HR.
Poster-making competition
Department of zoology, Punjab Agricultural University, organised a poster-making and slogan-writing competition on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. The poster made by Pallavi Arora, MSc student and slogan written by Navleen Kaur, another MSc student, were awarded first prize. Neena Singla, head of Department of Zoology, highlighted the role of teachers in the progress of society and motivated the students to participate in such competitions along with academics. TNS
