Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar school shines through

Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar Chowk branch, dominated the proceedings as they emerged winners in the girls U-14, 18 and 25 categories in the ongoing 550th Guru Nanak Dev Parkash Purb Kabaddi (national style) Tournament being held at different venues in Ludhiana district.
The four-day tournament is being organised by the Punjab Sports Department to celebrate the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev in which competition in the boys and girls sections U-14, 18 and 25 years is conducted at the sub-division level.
Matches at three sub-divisions falling under Ludhiana West and East constituencies are played to mark the occasion.
According to a release issued by Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, in the final (girls U-14), played at Threeke village in the Ludhiana West division, Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government School came out triumphant while Government Senior Secondary School, Jawahar Camp branch, secured the second position.
In the boys section (U-14), Sarinh village beat Amrit Indo Canadian School, Ladian village, to romp home victorious.
In the girls U-18 section, Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar Chowk, came out winner and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, had to content with the second spot.
Similarly, in the boys U-18 group, Sarinh village and Green Land Senior Secondary School secured first and second positions, respectively.
In the girls (U-25) final, Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Senior Secondary School bagged the first position while Government Senior Secondary School, Jawahar Camp, secured the second place.
In the boys’ section (U-25), Sarinh village won the top slot while Ranian Club finished as runners-up.
At Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Raikot, matches under the Khassi Kalan sub-division, were played wherein 11 teams took part in all three age groups.
In the boys U-14 category, Guru Nanak Public School, Bassian, and Indo Canadian International School, Bassian, secured the first two positions and in the U-18 section, GSND Convent School, Andloo, got the first position while Guru Nanak Public School, Bassian, secured the second spot.
In the boys U-25 group, Bhaini Darera clinched the top position and the second place was bagged by Indo Canadian International School, Bassian.
