Some areas becoming hub of sex trade: Cong leader

Parminder Mehta, a senior Congress leader, alleged that some city areas are becoming a hub of sex trade and demanded that such trend needs to be stopped right now.
In a statement issued, Mehta alleged that areas such as Clock Tower, bus stand etc, are literally turning into a hub of prostitution and the authorities are not paying any attention to this problem. Mehta said he interacted with several shopkeepers of the area who told him about the proliferating sex trade.
Mehta said during the daytime, women involved in prostitution could be seen standing in these areas to attract customers and these women openly ensure booking of hotels where the police would never conduct raid.
He said area residents living in these areas were facing lot of inconvenience as these women were openly roaming there to book customers.
Mehta also alleged that drug peddlers are also selling banned medicines and other drugs to labour class living in Lakshmi Cinema chowk, Janakpuri, Haibowal, Peeru Banda and Chand Cinema road. He said even people under the influence of drugs could also be seen lying on roads at these places.
He urged Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal to curb the rising sex trade, illegal lotteries and drug smuggling. — TNS
