Ludhiana, July 19
The star cast of upcoming Punjabi film “Thug Life” came calling to the city for the promotion of the film.
Actors Harish Verma, Rana Jung Bahadur, Rajiv Thakur, Ihana Dhillon and Jas Bajwa, while speaking about the film said it was a family entertainment film.
Harish Verma said the film was about the life of “thugs”, cheats, swindlers who dupe people for making a living.
But through the story, one gets a message that taking a shortcut in life is going to lead people nowhere and the right way to lead life was through hard work and honesty, he said. “I have worked with Gursharan bhaji and he used to say that we should all say it loud and clear that what is right is right and what is wrong should be said so, rather than turning away from reality. So this film is also an attempt to shed light on the right things in life by showing the consequences of the wrong act, while driving home the importance of virtues of hard work, honesty and truth for living a good life,” Harish said.
Rajiv Thakur, who has been doing reality television comedy shows, said working in the film was a great experience. He in fact, plays the lead role. The film will release on July 21, he said.
Veteran actor Rana Jung Bahadur said he has been the only actor, who has been doing Punjabi films regularly since 1979. “I have done around 82 Punjabi films and around 160 Hindi films. Though my roles in films are negative, I try and choose a different shade of negative character every time,” he said.
He said despite the fact that many Bollywood actors have started doing Punjabi films, the audience accepts only those who can speak Punjabi well, he said. “Being a true Malwai and having done MA in Punjabi, I am equally at ease in Punjabi and Hindi cinema,” he said.
Ihana Dhillon, the female lead, says she plays a funny actress in the film. “I play a gang member. In this film, the actress accosts people who are to be duped and gets the gang out of trouble,” she said.
Producer Charanjit Singh Walia said the film was a must watch for its entertainment, thrill and also because it had a new concept.
The film crew also visited Spring Dale Senior Secondary School and interacted with children.
