Swachhta campaign at Khalsa College for Women

Ludhiana: NSS students and the staff of Khalsa College for Women has adopted Chuharpur village of Ludhiana district for the swachhta campaign under Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. Principal Mukti Gill encouraged the volunteers to promote the message of cleanliness among the society and contribute in the swachhta revolution on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The institute has enrolled itself for the “Swachh Bharat Summer Internship — 2018”. Under this drive, volunteers need to put 100 hours of swachhta from June 13 to 27. This drive is oriented towards promoting cleanliness and awareness among village folks. The volunteers along with the village community conducted various activities such as rallies, door to door meetings for generating awareness regarding health and hygiene. They also engrossed the village children by conducting chart-making and essay-writing competition among other activities. Nodal officer Paramjit Sohal and member NYKS Satnam Singh and Balbir Singh guided the team to make sincere efforts towards bringing some revolutionary changes through this drive. Sarpanch Mandeep Singh Grewal evinced keen interest in making this campaign a success.

GHG Khalsa College students shine

The Panjab University Chandigarh recently declared the results of B PEd first semester examination. Students of GHG khalsa College brought laurels to the college by clinching six out of 10 university positions. Manpreet Kaur secured the first position with 86.62 per cent marks, Harpreet Kaur second with 86.12 per cent marks, Baljeet Kaur third with 86 per cent marks, Harmandeep Kaur fifth with 85.12 per cent marks, Karamveer Kaur secured the eighth position with 83.75 per cent marks and Harpreet Kaur bagged the tenth position in the university. Beside excellence in academic results, these students have shown outstanding performance in the field of sports as well and won medals at inter-college and inter-university level.

Yoga Day celebrations 

The department of physical education at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, celebrated World Yoga Day on June 21. Sports players and department members performed asanas. On this day, the department discussed the importance of yoga with students. Principal Mukti Gill spoke about the importance and benefits of yoga and congratulated the participants and the physical education department.— TNS
