Ludhiana, May 27
Padma Shree recipient and ravishing actress of Bollywood Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, alias Tabu, strongly believes in conviction and says do what you believe in. The actress was in the city today to share her journey of life at “The Voice Inside You”, a programme organised by FICCI Flo, Ludhiana. She was greatly impressed with the audience of Ludhiana and believed that such interactions were too healthy.
The chairperson of FICCI FLO, Nandita Bhaskar, interacted with the actress. Tabu shared her professional and personal experiences during the talk. For the “Machis” actress, almost all roles she has played so far in movies inspired her. She said before doing any movie, she asked herself: “Why am I doing this movie?” If she is convinced, she goes deep into the character, says Tabbu.
She appreciated the “phulkari” presented by the FICCI FLO executive, and said the members were “truly chirpiest and happiest”.
Talking particularly about “Machis”, Tabu said it changed the course of things for her. “I got to understand what acting was. It was acting in a different manner,” she said.
The actress said she took up comedy roles because of director David Dhawan. “Sajan Chale Sasural”, “Hera Pheri” and “Biwi Number One” were the movies which gave the actress a different identity. When asked about her work in Hollywood movies, Tabu said the pattern was almost the same but the professional ethics were certainly different. “The law is different, the contracts are different and the unions are very strong. They pay artists for over-time too. Royalty is also given. I am going to ask for over-time payment here in Bollywood too,” she said in a lighter vein.
When she is free, she likes to travel around, spend time with friends, watch movie, read and to being close to nature. “I feel satisfied because I put in my sincere efforts in the role I am given, and leave the rest to the audience,” said Tabu.
About her diet, she said she did yoga and she was fortunate that she did not have a sweet tooth. She does not push herself and she does workout as per the requirement. She loved and liked her character in “Cheeni Kam”.
At the same time, the actress said she was not too conscious about her airport looks. For her, comfort comes first. Had she been not an actor, she would have been an air hostess.
