To execute activities of “Khed Mahal” designed for pre-primary classes, a calendar of activities based on different themes has been devised by the Education Department.
A total of eight themes have been designed for the pre-primary students, including ‘Me, my family and my home’, ‘Animals’, ‘Birds’, ‘Fruits and vegetables’, ‘Means of transportation’, ‘Our surroundings’, ‘Means of communication’and ‘Dreams’.
An educational kit containing 32 worksheets has been provided to the government primary schools. The worksheets are to be completed in a year and are part of the creative development of students.
The department has asked schools to complete each theme through playway methods in four weeks. The focus while imparting education to pre-primary students will be laid on five developments i.e. physical, cognitive, language, socio and emotional and creative.
“The calendar will serve as a daily session plan for students. In spite of teachers devising the schedule every day, the department has drafted activities that are to be undertaken on daily basis. Teachers have been told to complete one theme in 24 working days. There are 6 periods fixed for pre-primary classes,”said Krishan Kumar, Education Secretary.
He said, “Emphasis is laid on language development and two periods have been designated for language, one for enhancing speaking skills and another for listening skills.”
