The mortal remains of the former Congress MLA, Harmohinder Singh Pradhan, were consigned to flames after the Punjab Police presented a guard honour amidst big crowd comprising friends and relatives, besides people from all walks of life here today.
Senior functionaries of the Congress placed the party flag as token of recognition of Pardhan’s commitment to the democracy and selfless service of society through various avenues in the state Assembly, local and other semi-autonomous bodies during the party’s rule in the state.
Pardhan was presently holding office of the vice-president and had represented the constituency twice in the Assembly earlier.
Appreciating his positive attitude towards service of society, the Congress district Ludhiana (Rural) president, Gurdev Singh Lapran, said they both (Pardhan and Lapran) had been running the affairs with consensus during their terms as president.
Earlier, body of the deceased MLA was kept at his native house for his followers to pay their last respects. The chairman, Punjab Marketing Board chairman, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, vice-president Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee, Dr Amar Singh, legislator Amrik Singh Dhillon, MLA (Gill), Dr Kuldeep Singh Vaid, MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, AAP MLA Jagtar Singh Jagga Hissowal, former minister Malkit Singh Dakha, SGPC member Jagjit Singh Talwandi, DIG Jaskaran Singh, senior leaders and former legislators Gurcharan Singh Boparai, Amarjit Singh Tikka, Nirmal Singh Mahant, Anand Swarup Mohi, Major Singh Bhaini, Krishan Kumar Bawa, Sudarshan Joshi, and Ramesh Kaura were also present on the occasion.
