There is no noble gesture than offering water to a thirsty person on a hot and humid day. The Aan Jal Sewa Trust which until now used to offer free food to patients and their attendants at the Civil Hospital has begun to provide traditional summer drinks to beat the heat.
Those visiting the hospital can cherish “Chaati lassi, nimbu paani, doodh soda, sharbat, sattu shaker, bel sharbat, pudin hara and jal jeera, among others.
Shiv Ram Siroae from the Aan Jal Sewa Trust said they had been offering free food to nearly 600-700 people every day.
“Keeping in view the scorching heat, we have started to provide traditional Indian drinks free of cost,” he said.
Manjeet Kaur, an attendant at the hospital said it was a very noble work.
“Traditional Indian drinks assist in overcoming the scorching heat. Nothing can be compared to ‘Shikanjvi’ on a hot day. It helps in balancing electrolyte and is the best remedy for exhaustion,” she said.
In addition to this, jaggery-based porridge and khichdi have also been included in the menu keeping.
