The Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at various educational institutions of the city. Students and staff members were upbeat and feeling of nationalism engulfed the school and colleges.
Green Land Public School
Patriotic zeal and fervour marked the Republic Day celebrations at the school. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by chairman of the chain of Green Land Schools Rajesh Rudhra and principal Baldeep Pandher. A guard of honour was given by the NCC cadets of Green Land School under the leadership of 3 Punjab Battalion. Students of the school presented a cultural bonanza to bring the patriotic spirit alive. Patriotic songs and dances kindled the spirit of nationalism and patriotism. Students paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation. Students dressed up in colours of Tricolour spread the message of peace and harmony. NCC students of the school were given mementos for their hard work. Students took a pledge that they will always stand by their country during theStudents took a pledge that they will always stand by their country during the times of need and create a beautiful India free from corruption, crime and social vices.
Green Valley Public School
Republic Day with celebrated with zeal and zest on the school premises. Students performed dance and gave speeches on the occasion. Director Inderjit Singh and principal Rajvinder Kaur Dhillon encouraged the students with their inspiring words. Sweets were distributed among the students.
DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur
A grand function was organised on the school premises. Students presented patriotic songs, poems and speeches. They performed a special dance on the occasion. Principal Yogesh Gambhir unfurled the National Flag and congratulated teachers and students. He told them about importance of Tricolour.
Babies Paradise School
The school was decorated with tri colour balloons, Tricolour, cutouts of freedom fighters. Kids came dressed up in military attires. Teachers told them about the importance of the day and also told them that we should love our country and respect our National Flag. Students sang national anthem. Later, sweets and flags were distributed among the kids.
Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School
National Flag was hoisted by the director of the school father John. Students saluted the National Flag and took the pledge to uphold the honour and integrity, diversity and uniqueness of India. The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland through patriotic songs and dances. Father John urged them to do their best and feel proud to be Indians. Principal Sister Christo also greeted the students on the auspicious occasion. The celebrations ended with the National Anthem.
BVM Kitchlu Nagar
Students saluted the great Indian Constitution and hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of the Republic day. Teachers delivered patriotic speeches on the occasion. Madan Mohan Vyas unfurled the Tricolour on the occasion.
Tagore Public School
Republic Day was celebrated with the unfurling of the National Flag by the chief guest Chaman Lal Gupta, president, Ludhiana Aggarwala Co-op. H/B Society Ltd., who was accorded a warm welcome by the members of the managing committee and school staff and students. The unfurling of the Tricolour was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Chief Guest highlighted the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and paid rich tributes to them. He urged the students to inculcate the feelings of patriotism, sacrifice and love for the country. The function ended with the rendition of the National Anthem.
Ryan International School
The programme started with the hoisting of the National Flag. It was followed by various cultural performances. The day created awareness among the students about the great sacrifices of brave people who contributed a lot towards their country.
NM Jain Model School
Republic Day was celebrated at NM Jain Model Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar, Ludhiana. Chief guest Baldev Raj Jain, president of the school management committee, hoisted the National Flag. Rajiv Jain was guest of Honour.
Guru Nanak International Public School
To mark Republic Day celebrations students of the school presented a various programmes. The school echoed with patriotic fervour as the children from the music club started the function with patriotic song followed by a Punjabi poem depicting unity in diversity. With an aim to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, students presented a skit promoting cleanliness. Students took a pledge to maintain cleanliness in thoughts and action. Students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland. Cookery Club prepared tricoloured dishes. Director P Kahlon and principal Gurmant Kaur Gill encouraged the students for their active participation in the celebrations. The programme ended with National Anthem and students pleged to work for the nation.
Colleges
Government College for Girls
The 67th Republic Day was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm by the staff and students of Government College for Girls. Principal of the College Dr Mohinder Kaur Grewal unfurled the National Flag and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters. She also congratulated the staff and students on this auspicious occasion. She said the freedom of women is also important for the society. The incidents happening throughout the country against the women are bad for a civilised society so we must launch campaign against the social evils.
GHG Khalsa College of Education
To mark the importance of the 67th Republic Day, a cultural and literary function was organised by the Social Vision Club at the college with zeal and gaiety. Principal HS Brar, vice-principal Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Dr Manu Chadha and all the members of club presented a floral welcome to the chief guest Dr Swaranjit Singh Deol. Dr Deol unfurled the Tricolour and students along with staff members sang national song. Republic Day pledge was administered to the students. Dr HS Brar presented a welcome note to chief guest.
AS College for Women
Khanna: Republic day was celebrated with great patriotic zeal on the college campus by the NSS, NCC and CA wings. Students paid rich tributes to freedom fighters of India. Paramjit Singh, president, AS High School Khanna Trust and Management Society, presided over the function. Principal Dr Meenu Sharma along with the college secretary Ajay Sood gave a floral welcome to members of the management. She congratulated all the students and motivated them to follow the teachings of the great leaders of the nation. She further expressed that we can enjoy true independence only when we follow all the rules in a disciplined way. The Tricoluor was hoisted by Paramjit Singh along with other management members, National Anthem was sung by one and all. As many as 300 students attended the function. Speeches, songs and poems recitation were presented by college students.
Gulzar Group
Students and staff of Gulzar Group of Institutions, Khanna, Ludhiana, celebrated Republic Day with enthusiasm. Flag hoisting was done by Gurcharan Singh, MD, Gulzar Group. A patriotic song was sung by the staff members. Cultural programmes, including a patriotic poem, dance and group songs, were presented by students. While paying tributes to the freedom fighters and others whose sacrifices have brought us freedom, MD Gurcharan Singh said everyone should follow the path shown by freedom fighters. He called upon people not to rejoice, but rather try to understand whether they had been able to achieve the goals of the Independence as envisaged by freedom fighters.
