Ludhiana: Indus World School organised a field trip to a supermarket for the students of grades I and II. The field trip was organised within the school hours. The mentors briefed the students about what was in store for them for the day. The children were asked to prepare a list of items that they would want to buy at the supermarket. The mentors asked them to estimate the cost. The mentors also briefed them on etiquettes and mannerism to be observed outside the school. They guided them on safety too.

Elocution competition at Ryan

Ryan International School, Dugri, conducted an elocution competition for the students of classes I and II. The Elocution topic for class I was 'Benefits of plants' and the topic for Class-II was 'Importance of Outdoor games'. Students confidently presented themselves. They used colourful and innovative props to support their views. Class II students also expressed their views and ideas on the topic by using various sports items. The headmistress of the school Shilpi Gurtu said Elocution is the skill of clear and expressive speech, especially of distinct pronunciation and articulation.

GMT athletes shine in c'ship

Students of the GMT Public School, Jalandhar byepass road, participated in an open District Athletic Championship held at Guru Nanak Stadium. Parashant Dwivedi won a bronze medal in high jump, Jasmine won a silver in javelin throw, Japandeep won a silver medal in 3,000 m race. Students of the school also participated in Punjab State Karate Championship held at Guru Nanak Stadium. Rajat Singh won a gold medal, Vinay Gupta, Mandeep singh won silver medals and Davinder singh, Anisha Bhardwaj, Jashanjot Singh and Roop Kawal won bronze medals, according to school authorities.

Cleanliness drive at SDP 

The NSS Unit of SDP Sr Sec School, Hazuri Road, organised  'Second Day Camp' of one week cleanliness drive at Birmi . The aim of camp was to prmote cleanliness and to motivate the students to keep their surroundings neat and clean. In this camp 60 volunteers and two teachers under the leadership of Neena Sharma Programme Officer,Jaspal Singh and Kulbir Singh contributed in this drive.

Students show boxing skills

In the U-14 boxing team of Sacred Heart Convent Sr Sec School participated in the district-level boxing competition, organised by Punjab School Education Board at Samrala. Himanshu Sarwal from the school won Silver Medal, while Arshpreet Singh Bhatti and Sirpreet Singh Bhatti won Gold medal and have been selected for State Level Competition to be held at Patiala on September 27, according to school authorities.

9/11 victims remembered

Green Land Convent School, Ludhiana, remembered the victims of 9/11 World Trade Center terrorist attack on its 16th anniversary. Students, staff and principal of the school assembled to pay homage and pray for the departed souls. To mark this day, everyone lighted candles and observed silence prayer for the martyrs. The message of international unity and brotherhood was given. — TNS
