Ludhiana: Students of Bajaj College went on a trip to Bangalore, Ooty and Mysore from March 21 to 28. A total of 16 students, along with two faculty members, went for the trip. Their journey began by taking a flight from Delhi to Bangalore where they visited Lal Bagh and stayed in the IT city for the night. The next day, they left for Ooty wherein they experienced the adventure of wildlife and tiger reserve on the way. The students explored the Doda Beta peak, Tata tea factory, Botanical garden and toured the local market for various types of tea, handmade chocolates and essential oils. The next day, they departed for Mysore wherein sites like the Mysore palace, St Philomena Church and the illuminated Vrindavan garden attracted the students. On the last day, students paid their homage to the world famous ISKON temple and left to board the flight for Delhi.
Felicitation ceremony
The Rotaract Club of Government College for Girls organised a felicitation ceremony for the student rotractors. Savita Sharma, Principal, GCG, was the chief guest on the occasion and Sukhwinder Kaur was the guest of honour. To sensitise the young rotaractors toward environmental issues, a PPT on ‘Conservation and management of annual Bio-diversity was shown by Jahanvi. Club activities and its achievements were highlighted though PPT, which were applauded by the audience. Office bearers and volunteers were presented with trophies and certificates along with the winners of poster presentation. The principal in her address motivated the students for social work and be an inspiration to each other.
3-day workshop on banking
A total of 40 students of M Com-I and M Com-II went to attend the workshop under the able guidance of Seema Soni (HOD Commerce and Management). Tiwari, Director of IBT guided the students about career opportunities in the field of banking and civil services. Group discussion and quiz was conducted for students and certificates were awarded to all the participants. Parul Jain of M Com-I was awarded the first prize, Jyoti Rani and Prerna Sharma of M Com-II got the second and third prize in quiz and group discussion, respectively.
Student shines
Sukhwinder Kaur of Guru Nanak National College Doraha has secured 9th position in Punjab university in MA (political science) semester-3rd exams. Sukhwinder secured 76.50 per cent marks in political science, while Gagandeep Kaur secured 74.50 per cent and stood second in the college. Sukhveer Kaur however stood third in the college by securing 73.75 per cent. Gurdeep Kaur secured 67.50 per cent and stood first in college in MA (political science )semester 1st while Gurmanjot Singh secured 64.5% marks stood second. Kamalpreet Kaur however stood third in the college by securing 63.23 per cent .Sukhwinder Kaur was on cloud nine as she expressed that it is the constant guidance of my teachers and support by my parents which have enabled her to gain university position. Principal Narinder Singh Sidhu said, “We are proud of such students who despite belonging to a rural background, still managed to secure coveted positions in the university and the college level.” TNS
