Ludhiana December 7

The Ludhiana Commissionerate has failed to provide information sought under the Right To Information (RTI) Act by Social Reformers, an NGO.

The applicant has now filed a second appeal against the police before the State Information Commission. Rajesh Gupta, president, Social Reformers, said he filed an RTI before the city police in October, in which he sought information regarding what time the police respond to emergency helpline calls made on toll-free numbers — 100 and 112 — and whether any such record is maintained.

The applicant had asked if the police took any action against PCR officials, who reach late to any emergency spot. This is a very serious issue concerning the safety of citizens. If the police ensure timely action on emergency calls and fix a time to reach the spot, a lot of heinous crimes can be curbed, he said.
