In a broad daylight incident, two motorcycle-borne persons snatched the gold chain of a woman at Sector 32-A, Chandigarh Road, here today. The victim has been identified as Sunena (42), a resident of Sector 32-A.
The snatchers targeted the woman while she was standing outside her home at around 1 pm. They were on a black motorcycle. They asked the victim for help to locate an address in the locality. When Sunena went near them, they snatched her gold chain. They also tried to remove her earrings but the woman raised the alarm and they fled the scene.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident. Passersby tried to chase the snatchers. The whole incident was captured by the CCTV cameras installed outside the victim’s home.
The Division Number 7 police reached the spot and initiated investigation into the case. The police took the CCTV footage in their possession.
Dilbaag Singh, investigating officer from the Division Number 7 police station, said: “We have obtained the CCTV footage of the incident. We are trying to trace the persons. We hope they will be arrested soon”.
A case has been registered by the police. The victim’s family had shifted to the area a few days ago.
