A guest lecture on food safety was organised by CT University. It was delivered by Simon Dawson, Senior Lecturer from Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
Vice-Chancellor Harsh Sadawarti said, “Our body is healthy, if we eat healthy. Basic human growth also depends on the quality of food we eat. Educated youth can be accountable for safety of food products right from the production till the consumption.”
While interacting with students, Simon Dawson said, “There is an immediate need of food safety. Food producing companies must have regular customer updates. They must communicate with customers and clear their doubts. They must focus on case studies as it highlights the failures, study about food related crime and focus on prerequisite programmes. The food safety industry is flourishing and needs youth. This particular stream needs intelligent young minds to get trained in safeguarding the eatable items.”
He elaborated about the training that the students could be trained for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) through regular workshops, seminars, audio-visuals and practical demonstrations by experts. He said for one’s health, one must ensure the quality of raw material and look at nutritional content.
