As a solution to finding peace within home through ‘nature-corners’ and promoting the culture of gardening in the view of shrinking urban spaces, a workshop for creating a delightful combination of container gardens and miniature waterfalls was held in the city.

Organised at Technocare Nursery, the workshop saw participants creating waterfalls and container gardens all on their own.

“Thanks to the paucity of spaces in modern urban homes, potted plants are the only way to get closer to nature within the confines of homes. However, to make these more interesting, a container garden having different varieties of plants can be created and these can be made even more soothing by installing within these miniature waterfalls,” says Nilam Kapoor from the nursery.

The beauty of such gardens and waterfalls in it is that these can be made in different sizes and variety, according to the space and preference.

In fact, even the waterfalls can be created of different varieties. “The ones created included a waterfall with a gurgling sound of water falling over stones, while in others water comes from the caves,” she said.

Juhi Bakhshi from the nursery, who gave the demonstration and guided participants in conjuring up these waterfalls, said these waterfalls don’t even require much water as the same water is re-circulated and a mug lasts more than a day.

The participants said it was a treat for the eyes, nose and ears, thanks to the soothing sound and sight of the miniature waterfalls in container gardens.

Apinder Sodhi, a participant, said it was a delight to be able to create waterfalls while making these container gardens and waterfalls. Navneet Kaur, another participant, said getting to work hands on for making waterfalls was a great experience as artificial waterfalls were common, but having these in container gardens was unique and more peace-giving, she said.
