Weather improves, plight of passengers remains the same

Even though weather conditions in the region have slightly improved but passengers have been a harried lot due to erratic running of trains.
Last minute cancellations, rescheduling for late departures and late running of long-route trains have become a regular feature. Railways cancelled 11 trains on Monday, a couple remained partially cancelled and a train was rescheduled.
With a couple of intercity trains on Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi running late by two hours, passengers were at receiving end. 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express train was running late by more than two hours and as a result 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar (due to rake sharing) was also delayed by nearly 2.30 hours.
Railways said 04401 Anand Vihar Termius (New Delhi)-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special Express, 12241/42 Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express, 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail, 13151 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Sealdah Express, 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express, 15209/10 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express, 15707/08 Katihar-Amritsar-Katihar Amrapali Express and 22423 Gorakhpur-Amritsar Superfast Express trains were cancelled for the day.
A pair of 14613/14 Chandigarh-Firozepur-Chandigarh Express was partially cancelled between SAS Nagar (MOhali) and Chandigarh in both directions while 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express train was rescheduled by one hour.
