Woman robbed of gold bangles

Ludhiana: Two Patiala-based women robbed a woman of her gold ornaments. The accused have been identified as Manjit Kaur and Channo, residents of Chitewal village, Patiala. Complainant Vidhya Chaudhary of BRS Nagar told the police that on November 12, as she was heading home from the market, she was stopped by two car borne women who offered her a lift. “I sat in their car and they dropped me outside my house. When I checked my gold bangles, I found them missing. Gold bangles weighing three tola were stolen by the accused women,”she alleged. Investigation Officer ASI Jaspal Singh said a case against unknown women has been registered and raids were on to nab the accused. TNS

Three booked for travel fraud

Ludhiana: The police have booked a woman among three travel agents for duping a man for Rs three lakh. The accused have been identified as Gurdeep Kumar, Jaswinder Kaur and Lakhwinder Singh, residents of Preet Nagar, Shimlapuri. Complainant Harbans Singh of Sangrur told the police that accused had promised to arrange for an Australian work permit and in lieu they took Rs three lakh. However, they failed to arrange any visa and refused to return the money. TNS

Two held with illicit liquor 

Ludhiana: The police have recovered 20 cases of illicit liquor from the possession of two men. The accused have been identified as Prince, a resident of New Chandar Nagar, and Rajat Singh of Lakshmi Puri. Investigation Officer ASI Jinder Lal said a tip-off was received that accused were on the way to supply the illicit liquor on their vehicle. The police team laid a trap on Jassian road and intercepted the vehicle. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the duo. TNS

3 held with 150 liquor cases 

Ludhiana: The CIA I wing of the city police has booked three smugglers and recovered 150 cases of illegal liquor from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Kala of Nepran village (Patiala), Nishan Singh of Hasanpur Jattan and Dalwinder Singh of Patiala. Kala is yet to be arrested. TNS
