Ludhiana, May 29
Nurturing a unique passion, a 34-year old woman does drawing on canvas with her fallen hair. Kamaldeep Kaur of Ludhiana has been awarded with a certificate by the India Book of Records as she performed needle work with human hair.
An ex-immigration counsellor, Kamaldeep Kaur said she had a hobby of making drawings with pencil. Now, she does unique art work with her fallen hair.
“Two years ago, I had fractured my leg and at the same time, I was having hair loss. Having enough free time, one day, while making a drawing, an idea struck my mind to draw with my hair. Moreover, hair is considered sacred in our family. Since then I started collecting my fallen hair in a folder. In February this year, I practically started working on this idea of making drawing by sewing with my own hair,” she said.
“I draw or trace the drawing on back side of canvas. Then I put my own hair in the needle and sew on the traced design. I faced a lot of difficulty since hair was quite frail. But then I started knotting two hair strands to make it strong. So I completed four drawings with my hair by devoting 15 days on each drawing, working two to three hours daily,” she added.
She said she had not seen anyone doing such a thing. She had also held an event to showcase her artwork a month ago.
She received a certificate from the India Book of Records for tracing birds drawn on the backside of a canvas by needling the same with her hair.
“I had submitted a video of my attempt of completing drawing named ‘Birds with my own hair’. Now, I wanted to get my name registered in the Limca Book of Records by creating another unique artwork,” she added.
