Ludhiana: Desh  Bhagat University, Department of Physiotherapy, celebrated World  Physiotherapy Day. The Physiotherapy Department organised a  free medical camp on the occasion. The camp was organised to make people  aware of health and fitness. The day  marks the unity and solidarity of the global physiotherapy community. It  is an opportunity to recognise the work of the physiotherapists. A cake cutting ceremony was also held on the occasion. University  Chancellor Dr Zora Singh appealed to the people to get maximum  advantage from the services being provided by Desh Bhagat Hospital. He also said it was necessary to raise awareness about the  roles, importance and responsibilities of doctors and to promote  medical profession.

Intra-college debate

In  continuation of the earlier held Youth E-forum, an intra-college debate  competition was conducted at Bajaj College wherein 16 students from all  streams participated. The topics for the debate were “Abolition  of Article 370- a necessary landmark in the Indian Constitution” and  “Forced v/s Self Discipline- Pre requisite for civilized life”. Students  presented mind-boggling facts and justifications to prove their point.  Principal Shikha Dhall, awarded the winners with cash  prizes and certificates and also presented the respectable judge for the  occasion with a token of love. In her view, such  events help in framing an informed and decisive mindset of the  students.

Students showcase creativity

Department  of Home Science of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan  Campus, Model Town organized a Contest on the theme “Healthy Cooking  with Superfoods” as a part of ongoing golden jubilee celebrations  of the college. The  students showed their creativity and passion for cooking with  ingredients of their choice. It was followed by a nutritive talk with  DT. Pooja Munjal. They participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in  the event. On the  occasion, Principal Manjit Kaur underlined the relevance of such  competitions which bring out the hidden talent among the students and  they feel motivated to showcase their creativity.

Elocution contest held

The  Department of Economics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines,  Ludhiana organized 55th A.D Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition  sponsored by Forum of Free Enterprise on 20th September 2019.The  competition  provided a platform to the students to think and speak on various  economic issue besides enabling them to display their oratory skills.  The function was presided over by As many  as 10 students participated in the competition and expressed their views  on the topics: Health for All: Reforming National Health Policy, Role  of A Model Citizen in Indian Democracy and Quest towards  Inclusive Growth in India. The participants were judged on the basis of  content, presentation and elocution. 

Career guidance seminar

 A career guidance seminar was organised on ‘What’s Your Idea’ by the PG  Department of Commerce and Management of Devki Devi Jain Memorial  College for Women under the supervision of HOD Seema Soni. It was managed by the team of Event Management. Shilpa Narang (Training & Placement Officer) and Pankaj Goyal from GNIMT College were resource persons. The primary objective of this seminar was to cultivate the culture of  entrepreneurship amongst the students. They also encouraged students to  convert their ideas into a business plan that can be turned into  start-up project.

Seminar for teachers

Teachers participate in a workshop on teaching methodologies at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Public School in Ludhiana on Friday.
