XEN accuses Cong leader of passing casteist remarks

An executive engineer of the Municipal Corporation has filed a complaint with the MC Commissioner against Congress leader Kamaljit Karwal.
The officer accused Karwal of passing remarks over his caste. The official alleged that the Congress leader also used abusive language against him.
MC XEN Harmesh Lal said: “When I was on duty, Congress leader Kamaljit Karwal called me and started threatening me. He passed remarks on my caste and abused me badly. He has threatened me in the past as well. While using very rough and abusive language, he asked me as to why I visited the office of LIP MLA Simarjit Singh Bains.”
“We had to conduct sewer-related work at Dashmesh Nagar. However, sewers were functioning. Actually, our junior engineer could not visit the area as he met with an accident. I do my work with dedication and honesty. Karwal levelled false allegations against me. I have given a written complaint against Karwal. I also brought the matter to the notice of Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu. I hope that I will get justice,” he said.
MC Commissioner Kanwalpreet Brar confirmed that she has received the complaint. “I have sought a report in this regard,” she said.
Allegations baseless, officer a Bains supporter, says Karwal
On the other hand, Kamaljit Karwal has denied the allegations. “I have not passed any remark over his caste. If he proves that I have passed any such remark, I will tender an apology in the public. I did not abuse or threaten him. If he has any evidence, he should keep it in public.”
Harmesh Lal has failed to pay attention towards the problem of choked sewers in the areas. Actually, he is a supporter of MLA Simarjit Singh Bains and often visits his office. He levelled false allegations against me on the instructions of Bains. It is a conspiracy against me,” Karwal said.
Randhir Singh Sivia of Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) said: “Karwal is levelling false allegations against MLA Simarjit Singh Bains. Moreover, we always support the honest. If the MC officer speaks the truth, we will also support him.”
