The incident took place at Gurdwara Baba Jiwan Singh located in the Agwar Ladhai area. The Granthi said he was resting in his room in the gurdwara when he heard some noise in Darbar Sahib. “When I reached there, I saw the youth stealing Gutka Sahib. I, along with sewadars, nabbed the youth,” said Giani Gurmukh Singh.

According to the police, the youth had no intention of showing disregard to the holy book.

“During questioning, he told the police that he just wanted to steal Gutka Sahib to take it home for praying. The accused has studied up to Class V and has no link to any particular section. He had no bad intention behind stealing Gutka Sahib,” said Jagraon SHO Inderjeet Singh Boparai.
