Man commits suicide
Ludhiana, October 4
A 28-year-old married man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Dashmesh Nagar on Wednesday evening. He has been identified as Gobind Kumar.
On a complaint of the deceased’s kin, an abetment-of-suicide case has been registered against the deceased’s wife, Anju, her sister, her brother-in-law Manjit Jeeta, uncle Vishnu Pal, her brothers Sandip, Joginder and Chandarpal. The police said raids were on to nab the suspects.
ASI Harmesh Singh, said the Gobind was working as a driver. He got married about eight years ago. A boy and a girl were born in the wedlock. The couple had separated for the past one month. Gobind’s in-laws had beaten up Gobind, due to which he was depressed, said Harmesh.
On Wednesday, both families met for a compromise. His in-laws again threatened Gobind. He went home and locked himself in his room. He later committed suicide.
