Man gets 2-yr jail for rash driving

A mini-truck driver was awarded two-year jail and fined Rs 1,000 for injuring a woman, who was riding an Activa scooter, near the Hallo Majra light point.

The court convicted Neeraj Kumar under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.

On February 15, 2013, a mini-truck driven by Neeraj Kumar hit the scooter Kattyani was riding from the rear side. She got injured and had to be taken to the GMCH, Sector 32.

Neeraj was arrested after a case was registered against him at the Industrial Area police station following the complaint of Amrit Pal, a native of Jalandhar.
