Manyavar has roped in actor Ranveer Singh and launched campaign “Shaadi hai, taiyaar hoke aaiye” as this year's wedding campaign. The central theme of this year's campaign is to establish Indian wear as the only dress code for weddings or celebrations and communicating this message to everyone attending a wedding across the age gamut.

Chandigarh University gets nod to start distance, online courses

Chandigarh University, Gharuan, has got approval from UGC-Distance Education Council to start distance programmes from January.  This was announced by Vice-Chancellor Dr RS Bawa. He said, "The university will start admissions to distance and online education programmes from January. In the first phase, it will offer 10 programmes which includes BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, BA, MA English, MA Phycology, B Sc Travel & Tourism, B Com and M Com”.

ShareChat releases UGC Trendz Report for Punjab

ShareChat has released its 2019 UGC Trendz report for Punjab. “Romance and Relationships” has topped the trend with 18% users creating/posting content on the genre this year. Interestingly, “Fashion and Make-Up” has witnessed a phenomenal jump from #7 in 2018 to #2 this year with more than 16% men posting user generated content on the category. “Devotion” is trending at #3 with men posting more than 11.42% content on the genre. Women are more inclined to post on “Romance and Relationships” with 17.52% content posted this year. 

Voltas Beko unveils ‘Kahan Gaya Mummy ka Sunday’ DVC

Voltbek Home Appliances Private Limited (Voltbek) — a JV between Voltas and Europe’s leading free standing consumer durables player, Arçelik, has launched a new digital video commercial (DVC)- “Kahan Gaya Mummy ka Sunday”. This DVC is a part of ‘The Sunday Paradox’, a platform providing content for the multi-faceted mothers of today. The video is based on the insights gained from an indepth research conducted among mothers across India to understand their latent needs for personal time on weekends.

BLal Steel commissions auto shredding unit in Ludhiana

Ludhiana-based BLal Steel Shredding Pvt Ltd has commissioned an auto shredding unit in Ludhiana. The plant has a capacity to shred around two lakh vehicles per annum. Besides End of Life Vehicles (ELVs), it can also shred other metal wastes like metal sheets and heavy appliances etc. The project has been initiated by Vipan Garg, managing director of the company, who is also running a similar auto shredding plant in New Zealand for over a decade.

Most prostate problems curable, says expert

Dr Saurabh Gupta, urologist, Aadesh Hospital, Bathinda, has said approximately 50% of males above 60 years of age have symptoms arising from prostate enlargement and silently suffer as they consider it as part of ageing process. He said most of the problems caused by prostatic enlargement can be managed by medicines alone and only 5-10% of patients need surgery.

Food processing and packaging solutions company Tetra Pak has revealed that with two-thirds of consumers now believing that we have reached an environmental tipping point, they see themselves as being directly responsible for the world around them, and for their own health. Nearly 60% of consumers globally now believe that their health and well-being are strongly affected by environmental problems. 

Jio further strengthens leadership in Punjab 

Reliance Jio has strengthened its leadership position both in customer market share and revenue market share (RMS) in Punjab, according to latest report of telecom regulator TRAI. Jio has amplified its lead by attaining RMS of 35% and revenue of Rs 510 crore in September quarter in the state.

CGRF, PSPCL, holds camp to redress consumer complaints

LIC waives convenience fee on credit card transactions

Life Insurance Corporation of India has waived convenience fee on credit card transactions initiated by policy holders for payment of renewal premium, advance premium, repayment of loan and loan interest with effect from December 1. Henceforth, all digital collections will be free of charges for customers. 

IndianOil, Udayan Care to set up IT learning centre 

Oil PSU IndianOil has joined hands with Udayan Care - a charitable trust that works to empower vulnerable children, women and youth - to set up an IT learning centre at Loni, Ghaziabad, for imparting digital education and skill training to underprivileged youths in the area. 

Norther Railway takes steps to reduce electricity bill 

Indian Railways has been granted the status of deemed licensee under the Electricity Act since 2015. With this, the Zonal Railways has started procuring power through open access directly from the generating companies through tariff-based bidding to cut electricity expenses. It is envisaged that NR will be able to save up to Rs 56 crore annually on the electricity bill of Punjab.
