Mohali, December 4

A 40-year-old mason was murdered by his acquaintance, who was suspecting illicit relations between his wife and the victim.

The body of the victim, identified as Ramsinghasan Pandey, was found with grave injuries and cut marks on the face and head at an under-construction site here, where he was staying. The police have arrested Om Prakash (38), a native of Uttar Pradesh, who was living with his wife on the top floor of the site.

Inspector Manphul Singh, SHO of the Balongi police station, said Om Prakash attacked Pandey, a native of Bihar, while he was sleeping last night. “Om Prakash hit him with an iron rod on his face and head,” said the SHO.

Pandey was married and was a mason. He was staying alone. Om Prakash was working as a labourer. Manphul Singh said the iron rod used in the crime had been recovered.

A case of murder has been registered against Om Prakash at the Balongi police station. — TNS
