Chandigarh, September 1
A day after Chandigarh Tribune highlighted the issue of waste being dumped at a proposed theme park site, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) started to remove the trash today.
The Joint Action Committee, president, Dyal Krishan, said during afternoon, two JCBs and a dipper was used to pick up the garbage. Most of it has been removed, he said.
“Children playing cricket got very excited with the development. We will hold a special cricket match on September 15. We thank the Mayor and Commissioner,” said Krishan.
On Saturday, Mayor Rajesh Kalia had to rush to the site in Dadu Majra after residents allegedly caught the civic body’s vehicles dumping hotel waste. As residents gathered, the driver fled from the spot leaving behind his vehicle.
