Global icon Shah Rukh Khan has been honoured with yet another doctorate degree and this time it’s from Melbourne-based La Trobe University. SRK was awarded the La Trobe University’s highest accolade during his visit to Australia for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
The Australian University awarded SRK with an Honorary Doctor of Letters (honoris causa), in recognition of his efforts to support underprivileged children, his unwavering dedication to the fight for women’s empowerment through MEER Foundation and his unparalleled achievements in the Indian entertainment industry.
While receiving the award, Khan said, “I experienced first-hand the superficiality of social values that place a woman’s appearance before her inner worth. I wanted to subvert that idea.”
