MTP kits, banned drugs seized

In a major success, a team of Health Department seized a huge quantity of banned drugs and medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) kits during a raid at a godown here today.

Three persons have reportedly been rounded up by the Civil Lines police in this connection.

According to information, the Health Department authorities had received a tip-off that MTP kits were being sold at Kangthli village of this district. Following this, a team, led by Deputy CMO Neelam Kakkar, sent a decoy customer to the shop. However, the chemist told the customer that he could get the kit from one Dhiraj, a shopkeeper in Kaithal. When Dhiraj was approached, he told the decoy customer that MTP kit could be had from Anil, who has a godown near railway crossing on the Devigarh road.

As the decoy customer got an MTP kit from the godown at a settled price, the team raided the place and seized 30 MTP kits along with 10,000 Microlit capsules, 600 Alprazolam tablets and 120 pentazocine injections.
