Nandini wins traditional attire contest

Haridwar, March 19
Nandini Rawat won the traditional attire competition organised as part of the annual cultural fest on the premises of Shravan Nath Muth Jawaharlal Nehru College here yesterday.
Shagun Chaudhary and Vaishanvi Upadhyay bagged the second and third positions, respectively.
Himanshi Sharma, Sharaf and Priya Sehgal were given consolation prizes.
In the boys’ event, Jaspal Singh won the first prize while Kritesh Pundir and Mohit Kashyap bagged the second and third prizes, respectively. Boys attire was judged by social activist Ashish Jha and Sandeep Rawat.
Spiritual guru and college managing committee member Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj blessed the winners and the participants.
College principal Dr Avneet Kumar Ghildiyal urged students to wear traditional handwoven sarees and folk attires on various festive occasions, as this would promote handloom artistes in this trade.
Commerce Department head Dr Sunil Kumar Batra said there was a demand for traditional sarees and khadi, which point to the growing popularity among the young generation.
Event coordinator Dr Sanjay Maheshwari, Dr Saraswati Pathak, Dr Manmohan Gupta, Dr Lata Sharma, Priyanka, Ankit Aggarwal, Student Welfare Council president Navjot Singh Walia, Kartik Gupta, Aush Parashar, Karan Verma, Deepak Kumar, Sameeksha Chaudhary, Priyanka Saini and Shreya were present on the occasion.
