An eighteen-month-old-girl on Friday fell into a 750-ft-deep borewell in an agricultural field at Binjarvaria village near Osian town in Jodhpur district.

While playing, Neha fell into the open borewell which was kept pending for repair for the last couple of days at one Sankhla family’s agricultural field-cum-residence, around 7.15 am.

Rescue teams from district administration, civil defence, army and calamity force have begun digging the borewell area, a senior official of Jodhpur Division told TNS.

A camera cable was also immersed into the borewell to trace the victim. Since the water table is visible through the micro camera cable, the chances to trace the drowning girl were getting slim, the official said.

The Chief Minister’s office is also monitoring the rescue operation.

The girl, along with her mother, had come to stay at her grandfather’s house.
