A prime suspect in the 1993 bombing of Rashtiya Swayamsevak Sangh’s office in Chennai has been arrested after 24 years of evading capture, Central Bureau of Investigation said on Friday.
Mushtaq Ahmed, 56, was arrested from the outskirts of Chennai on Friday morning, a CBI spokesperson said.
An explosion triggered by RDX on August 8, 1993, killed 11 people and brought down a multi-storeyed RSS office building at Chetput in Chennai.
Eleven people were sentenced in the case—three currently serving life terms—under the now-defunct TADA in 2007.
The agency had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for credible information about Ahmed. PTI/Agencies
