The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested at least 20 people from across the state on Monday for reportedly aiding cheating through hi-tech devices such as spy-mics, placing ‘solvers’ and impersonating aspirants during the first day of the two-day police constable recruitment examination.
Eleven persons were arrested from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Gorakhpur district, followed by eight in Allahabad and one in Bulandshahr.
A total of 22,78,184 aspirants are appearing for the examination being conducted by the UP Police Recruitment Board at 860 centres in 56 districts to fill 41,520 posts.
With sophisticated technology becoming inexpensive and accessible, most of the aspirants were caught using spy mics.
STF IG Amitabh Yash said: “Solvers were reportedly hired for Rs 5 lakh. They enter examination centres with forged documents, superimposed photographs and dictate answers through Bluetooth devices strapped to their body.”
Uttar Pradesh DGP Om Prakash Singh said special instructions had been issued to keep a close watch on activities on the social media, which was spreading rumours about the examination paper being leaked.
He claimed that the police were fully prepared to conduct the mammoth examination impartially without anyone succeeding in indulging in unfair means.
