GUWAHATI: At least five wild elephants were killed after being run over by a passenger train between Hawaipur and Lamshakhan stations under Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway on in Assam on Saturday night. The train engine got derailed at the impact of the mishap while no passenger casualty was reported. A railway spokesman said the engine of Guwahati-Silchar Fast passenger (15611) hit a herd of elephants between Hawaipur and Lamshakhan stations killing five of them. TNS
