Bengaluru, December 30
Abhishek Goyal, a Karnataka-cadre IPS officer who originally hails from Mansa in Punjab, may face disciplinary action after being slapped with multiple charges by the National Police Academy (NPA) in Hyderabad.
The 2005-batch IPS officer has been accused of “misconduct, gross indiscipline and insubordination” during the mid-career training (MCT) programme in Hyderabad and the exposure visit to Australia between November 29 and December 4.
Karnataka Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee, who is the head of the cadre controlling authority for IAS and IPS officers in the state, said the charges framed by the NPA against Goyal were being verified and action would be taken if the allegations were found true.
The NPA’s letter, addressed to Karnataka DG and IGP Om Prakash, recommends departmental inquiry and recovery of Rs 62,393, spent on Goyal, within 30 days of the receipt of the letter. The NPA has said that it will be difficult to accept any further nominations for the MCT from Karnataka if action is not initiated against Goyal.
Goyal has been also denied course completion certificate by the NPA.
