Lucknow, November 19
With the launch of UP 100, a hi-tech police emergency management system, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today claimed the police would now reach the doorstep of any distressed urban citizen in 15 minutes and latest in 20 minutes in rural areas.
The UP 100 centre in Lucknow would control 3,200 police response vehicles across the state in the first phase. In the second phase, 1,800 motorcycles would also be added, he added.
Any call to number 100 anywhere in UP would directly land at the Lucknow centre where the team of professional women communication officers would record the conversation , transfer the call to the police dispatch section that would send the required police assistance to the ground level and also inform the local police station.
BSP supremo Mayawati, however, dismissed the launch of the service as eyewash. “When the government is in control of goons and mafia how the law and order situation can improve,” she said.
