In an initiative aimed at quick delivery of government services, Tamil Nadu Chief J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday launched a round-the-clock call centre for ensuring fast response to grievances. The ‘Amma Call Centre’, which will work all through the year, was launched by the Chief Minister here through video-conferencing. The latest initiative was aimed at ensuring quick response to people’s grievances where in they can dial toll-free number ‘1100’ at any point of time in the day, a government release here said. PTI

Clinical skill laboratory
Kerala’s first clinical skill laboratory, envisaged to provide state-of-the art training for doctors and paramedics specialising in treatment and care of pregnant women and newborns, will start functioning here soon. The modern lab, equipped with simulators to provide expert training, was being set up at the Kerala State Institute of Health and Family Welfare in Thycaud in the city, state Health Minister said. Monkey fever kills woman
A 60-year-old woman, Janaki Desai, died of Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), commonly known as monkey fever, the first death reported from the ailment in Goa this year, a senior health official said. The fever has gripped Mauxi, Zarmen, Copordem, Budruk, Karmali and Saleli villages in Sattari taluka located in the north eastern part adjoining Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary in the state. PTI
