App to help locate nearest toilet

Now that we have mobile phone apps for just everything, why not one for locating the nearest public toilet?

Such an app has been developed by Kerala-based Eram Scientific Solutions for the e-toilets installed by them in Bengaluru. E-toilets are public toilets only and can be used by anyone by inserting a coin in the slot provided for this purpose.

Coins ranging from Re 1 to Rs 5 can be used for availing the same service. “This is to spare the user from searching for a particular denomination of coin when he is in urgent need for using the toilet”, Anvar Sadath K, CEO, Eram Scientific Solutions Pvt Ltd, said. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has recently completed installation of 75 such toilets while installation of 100 more e-toilets in the city is in the pipeline.

The mobile app for the user will help him/her locate the nearest e-toilet via map and address listing, explain the operations, provide information like napkin vending machines, sharing feedback on the user experience and suggesting alternative places. There is also an app for monitoring by corporation officials which will help them collect usage statistics, health status, water condition and facilities available in the toilet. The apps can be downloaded free of cost from Google Playstore.
