Barcode scanning must for liquor sale

New Delhi: The Delhi government has directed all alcohol vends in the city to ensure sale of liquor through scanning from February 15, officials said. The move is aimed at plugging tax loopholes. The excise department has warned of penal action if the order was not followed. “If they (liquor vends) fail to comply, strict action, including cancellation of licence, can be taken,” an official said. pti
