Lucknow, March 12

Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad was taken to a Meerut hospital after his condition deteriorated soon after he was picked up by the police at Qasimpur village in Saharanpur’s Deoband area today.

Azad along with associates was marching towards Delhi for the March 15 ‘Hum Sab Azad Hain’ rally.

Following the arrest, his supporters clashed with the police which virtually blocked the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway. In a series of tweets, Bhim Army general secretary Kamal Walia said Chandrashekhar Azad’s condition had worsened in police custody and the police had rushed him to Anand Hospital in Meerut for treatment. — TNS
