Bharatiya Janata Party announced its last candidate for Rajasthan on Sunday.
Former Minister of State Jaskaur Meena is BJP’s candidate from Dausa. She’s up against Congress party’s Savita Meena.
BJP Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament KL Meena’s wife Golma Devi and Independent MLA Omprakash Hudla’s wife Prem were other aspirants for the seat, but former chief minister Vasundhara Raje was pushing for Jaskaur Meena’s nomination.
BJP’s top leadership hinted at Jaskaur Meena’s candidature when they asked her to begin campaigning, but they could not make a formal announcement over mounting pressure from other contenders.
Rajasthan has 25 Parliamentary seats. BJP’s ally RLTP has been given one seat Nagaur. RLTP’s convener Hanuman Beniwal will fight Congress party’s Jyoti Mirdha, a former MP, for the seat.
The state will vote in the sixth phase on May 6. Votes will be counted on May 23.
