BJP MP slapped at function

BARMER: Barmer MP Sonaram Chaudhary was allegedly slapped by a youth at a marriage function following an argument over some issue. The incident happened on Monday when Sonaram and the accused, Khartharam, had an argument and in a fit of rage Khartharam slapped the MP. Khartharam was arrested. PTI

Chandy sustains minor injuries 

Kerala CM Oommen Chandy on Tuesday suffered minor injuries on his foot when a glass pane of a door broke as some youths rushed in to take a 'selfie' with him at the venue of a function. The function was being held for fresh voters at Perinthalmanna. No case has been registered. PTI

Naik in hospital for high BP

Union Minister Sripad Naik (64) was admitted to a government hospital in Ponda town on Monday after his blood pressure shot up. He was discharged on Tuesday morning and visited the Goa Medical College to undergo a few tests. The MP, who represents North Goa LS constituency, was scheduled to fly to New Delhi on Monday. PTI

Ghulam Ali’s event cancelled

Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, who was scheduled to perform on Tuesday at a cultural event in Bhavnagar, cancelled his visit. Ali might not come to collect his award too on the last day of the event, Asmita Parv, organised from April 19-22. Ali and five others were to be given 'Hanumant Award' on the event’s last day. PTI

Drunk driver mows down 6 

At least six people were killed and 19 injured when a drunk driver rammed his car into a roadside event in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday. People were watching a regional folk dance at Pannaha village late on Monday when a speeding car ran into them and mowed them down. IANS
