As the O Panneerselvam-VK Sasikala saga enters the final act (the Supreme Court is expected to give a verdict tomorrow on the disproportionate asset case against the AIADMK general secretary), the BJP and the Centre continue to claim “no role whatsoever’ in the ongoing TN drama.

The situation will soon be “clear”, party leaders say while they make an interesting point that all this while they favoured neither OPS nor Sasikala. Rather, they would have preferred Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai (who happens to be from the Sasikala camp) to be at helm of affairs in Tamil Nadu given their level of comfort in dealing with him in Parliament.

Apparently, a message asking Sasikala to hold on to her horses till clarity emerged was also conveyed, they say, on a day some semblance of order emerged with State Governor Vidyasagar Rao being advised to hold a composite floor test in the Assembly. Though it seems Sasikala is in a hurry to register herself as the state CM, it is the SC verdict that will decide her political career and not the floor test. OPS is drawing his strength largely from masses and AIADMK MPs, with the exception of some like Thambidurai who belongs to Sasikala camp.
